If only we could trump last year’s Christmas card… sigh! I’ve been racking my brain for a almost a year now and have decided there’s nothing we can ever do to match it.

Last year we had Finley, the hairiest headed white baby many had ever seen. So while driving to Kansas City last October we had an epiphany – “Hairy Merry Christmas” – and the idea was born! This year there hasn’t been an epiphany yet, but we’ll be headed to KC tomorrow and I’m hoping to have one (it will never trump last year’s, but I’m hoping to have one). If you have one (an idea) for us, please share.

I hope you had a great Halloween! We had a party that very few could make it to tonight. :/ But it was fun nonetheless.
We made pumpkin cupcakes that we have many leftovers of. Too bad I’ll have to eat them all! You can get the recipe here. And my wonderful mother made super yummy potato soup.
Finley was clown this year to go along with the “Circus” theme. Fitting!
You see, there’s a theme every year with my sister’s kids and my cousin’s little girl. Photos of all of them to come!

Yesterday Finley and I joined my sister’s home school group for a day at Walters’ Pumpkin Patch.
First a ride out to cut pumpkins.

Play time with all of the wonderful equipment at Walters’.

The poor children had to sit for several photo ops. It always gives me a greater appreciation for photographers when I try (and fail miserably) to get just one good shot.

We had so much fun! One highlight for me was watching this girl play.

She was full of smiles and adventure all day.

And… Diego’s big jump! I always feel blessed hanging out with my fun family.
Have you been to get pumpkins yet? Do you have a favorite patch? I’d love to try a new one next year!

I’ve been feeling discouraged and frustrated with myself lately because I feel like I’ve wasted valuble time over the past 28 years. I feel like I should have so much more knowledge of the Bible and more of it hidden in my heart than I do. I believe the devil is using these thoughts of my wasting time to discourage me. Then tonight, I’m reading this weeks notes from BSF and I read exactly what I needed to. BSF notes question: “Are you patient while God prepares you for an unknown future ministry?” God is so faithful to give us exactly what we need at the time we need it. Thank you Father for words of encouragement. Please prepare me for whatever future ministry You might have and use me to Your glory in the meantime.

If you see this sign Thursday and don’t stop by… you are probably a smart person, because I don’t have my stuff together! My sister and I are putting together a yard sale and, well, we’re going to have signs. Hahaha. If you have nothing going on Thursday and would like to rummage through my marked (by marked, I mean unmarked) treasures, come on by.

So, I’ve been having a few late nights recently. Why, you ask? Because that’s when I work best! I guess it’s from years of working late nights at Gardner Design. I’m stronger for it, right? Ha! Anyhow, I’ve been updating my website (aka. my portfolio). Check it out, let me know what you think, and if you have any suggestions for me. It’s still kind of a work in progress. www.elisabethowens.com
